How to Choose Your Level: Gentle, Steady or Bold
By Rowan Sorel · · 3 min read
Every week in the journal brings one challenge with three ways to do it. Gentle is a small, steady step. Steady is a real stretch. Bold is going all in. The question most people ask on day one is simple: which one should I pick?
Start with the week you actually have
Look at the next seven days, not the ideal version of you. A week with long shifts, kids' games or travel is a Gentle week, and that's not a lower grade. It's the level that keeps you showing up. A normal week is a good fit for Steady. Save Bold for weeks when you have room and want to see what you can do.
Use the two-question check
Before you circle a level, ask yourself:
- Could I do this on my most tired day this week?
- Would doing it feel like a small win?
If the answer to the first is no, step down a level. If the answer to the second is no, step up.
Changing levels is the point
You can switch any week. Many people start Gentle for the first month, move to Steady in Month Two (Healing Body), and try Bold once or twice in Month Three. Others stay Gentle the whole way and finish all 90 days. Both count.
Missed a day?
Don't start over. Turn to the next page and keep going. Your progress mandala shows every day you showed up, and that's what you'll see at Day 90.
